Just a backyard
chase of sorts this evening. Prior to sunset, I was lured outside
to photograph what would become a spectacular display of sheared stratocumulus
billow clouds. These were classic imposters of lenticular clouds
as this part of MT is completely void of any significant terrain.
These formed in an unstable lower layer immediately beneath a strongly
stable layer. A timelapse of these would have been sweet.
Later that night I grabbed my camera gear once
more as an intense lightning show was occurring about 30 miles or so to
my southwest. Naturally, the CG lightning began dwindling shortly
after I arrived at my photo spot, but I still managed to capture some decent
shots as this non-SVR cell began dying. |
